So Jason met Dr. Khoury and we talked about a plan for Anna.  She does not have to wear a brace but we will have surgery Feb. 25.  He cleared up a lot of things for us.  He estimates she will gain 3-4 inches in surgery and we will be losing an inch in her total growth from having surgery before she's done growing.

He measured her curve from the X-ray from the previous doctor - there may have been a degree change.  It is a growing curve, they do know that.

So we have our MRI in November and all the lab work done Jan. 25.  She will be out of school for 6 weeks and well by summer.  She will miss recital which she was bummed about but it's better to miss that one thing then to miss out on a lot of other stuff.  Plus, she'll be there and gets to dance all the way up to surgery.  And she'll be back next year.

Our prayer for her is concerning her flexibility.  We need her stay flexible to help in surgery.  The more flexible her spine is the more they can pull it back in surgery.  I'm praying for her to have COURAGE!  She is my little worry wart.  I've already seen the Lord calm her heart about the whole thing and I just pray he continues to give her peace.  Pray for Jason and I as we parent her and comfort her when we ourselves have wrestled with this.  I'm praying the Lord uses her and this surgery for his glory.  I'm just praying she runs to the Lord with her fears and that she will trust him through all this, and that we will too.

This little nut HATES the doctor.
She's been doing better and a couple of months ago (at her well visit) Dr. Wilson actually got to hear her heart when she wasn't screaming and crying!  And low and behold she heard a murmur.
Today was her cardiologist appointment.  She was doing good in the waiting room - but then they called her back.  They did not do one thing that hurt her but she FLIPPED OUT!
The did an eco and her heart looks good.  All her valves look good and there is no hole in her heart.  She does have a murmur but nothing to be concerned about - per the doctor.
So, thank you Eden!  I can mark that off my worry list.

School: Mary

Found this gem today!

This cracks me up!  I love it.

All about my summer:
Favorite water activity was... water slides
This summer I made... Mud pies
I love this summer because... it was cool
I traveled to... Pidex (Publix)

Of all the things we did this summer traveling to Publix!!  Really?
I worked so hard to make sure they had something to tell about when they got back to school.  Last year Anna gave me down the road because all she could say we did was swim.  Well, this year we did a ton of stuff and traveling to Publix was the highlight.

Now I know!

Welcome to bedtime.

This has been happening a lot lately.  And apart from it being time for bed...I love it.  Jason and I are both so proud of Noah.  He's becoming a great guitar player and he's been practicing a lot.

Well, today we went to Dr. Khoury at Children's. They did a thorough evaluation on her.  His measurement for her curve is 45 degrees and 63 degrees on bottom.

He said he usually waits until summer for this surgery because of school and that's when he said it...He said, "I don't think we have that long."  He said he thinks we have about a 6 month time period for surgery.  This is because the curve is already advanced before she has begun to grow.  When she starts growing the curve will also grow.  He did mention if the curve grows to 70 degrees he can only pull it back about 30 degrees (that's what I think I understood).

I felt shell shocked.  I thought we had time.  I asked about a brace holding the curve until summer and he said the brace will not hold this curve.  He will fit her for a brace to buy us some time but when it's time for surgery we will do it.

The only thing that makes me want to wait on this surgery is her growth.  Both doctors have said that once they do surgery on her back her back will not grow anymore.  And they both have said that she still has a lot of growing to do.  Dr. Khoury mentioned she will gain 4 inches from the surgery.  So she will gain 4 inches but how many will she lose?

Anna did great in the doctors office but lost it again when we got to the car.  And this time...I wanted to lose it with her.   She is scared.  She said she knows she needs the surgery, she wants to just get it over with, but she's scared of the actual surgery.  Who can blame her?!?  I hate to see her walk this road.  I hate this is something she will always have to deal with.   It breaks my heart every time I think about it.  BUT, we are looking for all the positives.  We are looking and watching for what the Lord is doing and going to do through this.

We are praying for wisdom and peace, and an absence of fear!
Our next appointment is Monday August 24.  Jason is going with us this time and my list of questions is growing by the day.

Shine 2015

Our second annual Shine Conference was a great success.  Barbara came and taught us about Esther - how she looked to the Lord for guidance, she was obedient to the Lord's plan, she trusted the Lord and had boldness to approach the king, strength and persevered.

And like Esther we have those same characteristic in us.  And those characteristic SHINE when we trust Jesus and seek Him.

We had around 40 kids come.  This year we had youth helpers too.  They did great!

It's that time again!!  We are ready to SHINE!

Avery had been gone for 2 weeks!  We finally got to see her again!

Our lighthouse keeper is so captivating

Up early Saturday ready to SHINE!

Sandcastle competition

Puppets ROCKED!

Me and the very great light house keeper

Razor for a PRIZE!  Barbara gives it a spin before the win.

Teen Helpers did such a great job being leaders and servants!

Gearing up!

We are getting super excited about starting school.  Anna and Noah went to pack their lockers and we got to meet Mary and Isaac's teacher.

Isaac photobombed this picture.

These 3 are gonna have a great year!!

Noah not interested in locker pics!  HA!

Isaac got Mrs. Lee

Just a couple doors down from Mrs. Lambert.  We really wanted Mrs. Lambert again but she's already claimed Isaac for split list classes.
We love Mrs. Lambert!

Now onto Mary's class.
Mary's backpack was really heavy because it was filled with her supplies so Noah helped her out.  He might be the best big bro!

Mary got Mrs. Johnson, she's in a trailer.
I'm pretty sure she's gonna have a GREAT year as a 2nd grader.

Mrs. Johnson gave us some magic confetti to help her sleep.  So cute!
