My Sweet Aunt Ruth

My sweet Aunt Ruth passed away, Saturday Feb. 25th.  She never was able to recover from a slight heart attack.  She was 84 years old.  I LOVE this lady!  In my eyes, the way I always saw her, she was the life of the party.  Always smiling and laughing (loud - I think it runs in the family).  She had the most handsome husband (my Uncle Robert) who passed away 18 years to the day that she did.  I remember going to visit her after he died and she was always so sad.  She missed him even years after he was gone.  She absolutely loved that man.  The way I hope to love, respect, and take care of Jason.

There were 5 kids in her family.  She was the oldest girl (my grandmother is 4 years younger then her).  Her sisters said she was the pretty one.  She drove her parents crazy chasing boys.  But then she found Uncle Robert.  She is an extremely happy person can laugh at all times but she could also get real fired up.  She's not against protecting her family.  She was the glue that held her family together.  I love how her side of the family is so close.  Cousins are like siblings and she was the momma hen - for generations!  What a legacy.

My favorite story of her was when my cousin Rob (who was WILD at the time) was living with her and he had marijuana plant (in a pot) and she kept it alive for him!!  She thought it was a beautiful plant - he was thankful.  Never told her.  She's just that funny!!

She brings a smile to my face!  She reminds me of my mom and I see a little of myself in her (personality wise).  I desire to take care of my family like she did, to love my husband like she did, to share the gospel like she did in life and words.  She is a great lady.  I'm thankful she knew the Lord and we will meet again.  I'm thankful she is worshiping her savior JESUS facetoface and united again with the ones she loved so dearly.

Her funeral service was so good.  The preacher did a great job preaching the word and encouraging us who are without her.  He taught on 1 Corn. the LOVE passage.  And how Ruth in heaven now, her love is complete.  She is experiencing LOVE to the fullest without earthly flaws ...

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

RMLBC Women's Retreat

"Sprout" to the Lord...

This is Talula the Tater.  She gave her testimony about how the Lord brought her out of her deep dark hole, put her through the fire, and when he saw his reflection brought her out, and buttered her up with sour cream and other luxuries for HIS purpose.  It was a long shot but they didn't give us much to work with.  LOVE ME SOME Talula

I just spent the weekend with some pretty amazing women. As you already know (if you read this blog long enough) I love our church. And I already knew some pretty amazing people went there but now I KNOW some pretty amazing people go there!

A group of 24 women (ages 24-82) went to camp Sumatunga for a "retreat."  I have never gone on a women's retreat with our church and I'm ashamed to say but I've never been to a women's bible study at our church either.  These women...Becky and Sandra for sure (not sure who else was in the planning) put together this retreat in about a month maybe a month and a half.  They did an amazing job.  The Lord really used their efforts to teach and encourage all of us.

We learned about "Taters" - all kinds of taters.  Here are a few...

Some people are always looking to cause problems by asking others to agree with them. It is too hot or too cold, to sour or too sweet. They are called "Agie Taters"  Acts 5:39

Some people will say they will help, but somehow just never get around to actually doing the promised help. They are called "Hesi Taters" Heb. 3:13

Some people are very bossy and like to tell others what to do.  They are called "Dick Taters" Mark 10:43

Some people never do anything to help, but are gifted at finding fault with the way others do the work. They are called "Comment Taters" Matt 7:5

Some People never seem motivated to participate, but are just content to watch while others do the work. They are called "Spec Taters".  1 Cor. 12:20-27

Some people can put up a front and pretend to be someone they are not they are called "Emma Taters"

Then there are those who love others and do what they say they will. They are always prepared to stop whatever they are doing and lend a helping hand. They bring real sunshine into the lives of others. They are called "Sweet Taters"  Gal. 5:20-23

We played lots of games, we stayed up late and talked, we got to hear everyone's life story (which may have been one of my favorite things), we crafted and made rag wreaths, we laughed a lot, we ate a lot, we had a fashion show (unforgettable),  we did skits, we sang together, we prayed for each other, we BONDED for sure.  It was a very great weekend.  The Lord was so nice to us all.  We all loved it so much we are making it an annual thing.

My rag wreath!  I love it...  This is one of my favorite projects.

The winning skit.  "Going to Sumatonga!"

Becky and the other leaders made us all journal covers...

Mine journal = love!

Becky "facilitatering" us.

Sandra teaching us about TATERS!

Fashion Show!!  This is Sue with her beaded hand bag, pillbox hat, penny loafers, and dinner dress.
Sandra in her bathing suit, sun glasses and ball cap.

Edna had bell bottoms a turtle neck, and a head band.

Sherry in her ball gown, lizard purse

MOST HILARIOUS... Becky in her power suit (which is double breasted) and her brief case.

So.Much.Fun!! Thank you LORD for RMLBC.  I especially thank you for the women I just spent the weekend with, you made some pretty amazing people and have written their stories so beautifully.  Thank you for being so active in our lives.  You are amazing God!

Say it ain't SO!

When this baby woke up today he looked like this!

It was just yesterday that he was a baby, right?  How can time truly fly so fast?  I love when he was a baby - holding him, feeding him, snuggling him, watching him play, making him laugh because he is the ticklest baby ever!  I love that stage.  I love him in that stage.   I cherish him as a baby would give anything to have a couple of those days back.  To hold him, smell him, cuddle him, just me and him.  Dollar Family party of 3 - just a couple of those days!

BUT, believe it or not...I love him now too!  And I love our big ole' family.  When we brought him home I remember thinking... who else is gonna be in this family?  I wonder how many brothers or sisters he's gonna have? I wonder who he's gonna look like?  I wonder who he will act like?  I wonder ... I wonder... I wonder...  Well, now I know a little bit more - maybe too much - JUST KIDDING!!!

I love that by just asking he will tell me how his day was, what he's thinking about, what scares him, what makes him happy, what he wants.  I love that he loves God - and seeks to please him.  I love when he comes around just to say he loves me and when he gets filled with so much love it explodes with a GIANT hug (he's tiny but he's also strong and can squeeze TIGHT!), I love when he kisses me (which isn't all the time anymore so it's a gift when he does), I love to watch him with his friends, I love when he tells me I'm the coolest mom (again isn't often but those words ring in my head when I think I'm failing).  He is such an encourager to me and I also watch him encourage his friends.  I love that he is a good friend.  He has his Daddy's heart!  I love that he is still a family man (give or take Anna on some days - ha).  I love that he loves his siblings especially how he treats the babies.  He gives them so much, plays with them and loves on them.  They both adore him.  As for Anna - he tries sometimes.  But again, I've said time and time again he loves Anna and he shows it when she's not around.  They love to annoy each other - both of them.

Today we are going to celebrate another friends Birthday at church and I was feeling really horrible for not being around on his birthday (which Jason is taking him to Target - that's all he wants for his birthday - TARGET and CASH) - so they are celebrating.  But I was still bummed.  And I was telling Noah about it and he said, "Mom, I'm just 10 - it's ok!  I'm fine!" - We will celebrate soon with family but 10 years ago today he stopped my world.  He changed me!  He started molding me into a "mother" - I want to celebrate!!  Noah, WE MADE IT TEN YEARS!  To me that's huge.  I ache to think in 10 more years he will be a MAN!  But there will be perks to that too!!  Oh, how I treasure this time with him as a kid.

Noah at 10:

He weighs 67 pounds
He loves being outside: to Skateboard or Ripstick with his friends
He loves being outside
He loves CANDY
He loves cereal - could eat it every meal
He loves beyblades
When he's inside the loves to build with legos and play a computer game Mind Craft
He loves to shop at Target

I love him...
Don't blink, don't blink, don't blink!!

I love my Jason Dollar!  The past week he's been saying I'm his Texas YELLOW Rose.  And I would give him a hard time and say, "I know we're just friends!"  He said I have not done my research on the yellow rose.  And you know, he should know...I DON'T DO RESEARCH!  He says it's SPECIAL and RARE.  Yep...that's me!  I'm thinking he didn't do his research on the Yellow Rose though.  But I'll take his word for it.

So this morning I got a Yellow Rose from him.  He's so thoughtful.  In the shower I was prepping myself for a crummy Valentine's Day.  Saying in my mind, "I hate days like this.  The hype ruins the day!"  Jason is sick and we are scraping pennies until payday (TOMORROW).  So I couldn't do anything for him and I just knew it was going to be crummy.  I mean not every year can be the BEST VALENTINE'S DAY, can it?

Well, this year it was the little acts of kindness.  The thoughtfulness of Jason to get me a flower and then to tell me he's thinking about me during the day, and then A LOVE LETTER!  To replace a letter I got a couple of years ago that helped me grow up a little.  And replace it did!!  HE LOVES ME!  HE REALLY LOVES ME!

One of the greatest feelings in the world is to know why someone loves you.  Not just the I love you and can't describe it.  The "I love you let me count the ways" kind of I love you.  I'm on cloud nine today!  Thanks Jason!!  You got me there!

In other Valentine news...

I thought I would share Noah's Valentine box he made.  They had to make a box to collect their valentines.  His class "theme" is Mrs. Penny's Pride (like Lions).  So he made a lion box.  I thought it was pretty cute.  Not as crisp as I would have hoped but guess what...IT WASN'T MY PROJECT!!  He did a GREAT job.  I think he's cute!

Noah's homemade all by himself Valentine box.  I personally think it ROCKS!

Anna is pretty stressed this year about "who's gonna be her valentine."  I told her I would be, and she said I couldn't because it has to be a boy.  Then I told her Dad definitely would be and she said, "NO!  He's your valentine!"  She didn't like the idea of Noah being her Valentine either.  Don't think he would have went for that...but I threw it out there.  She may have settled on Isaac.  I wonder what she thinks a Valentine is...What it means?  It's stressing her out...like she's got to have one by today.  I'm sure she knows by now it's not a big deal.

Anna working on her Valentine box and the final products!

We made them all a lasagna dinner and we ate by candlelight.  Anna was so excited she got all dressed up!  All 5 of them are the loves of my life!  It was a fun celebration!

Happy Valentines Day!

Mercedes Marathon!

Noah and Anna have been working on this marathon since September. Each week they would log in miles they run during PE and the last mile they ran at the Mercedes Marathon and got a medal for their completion.

I wish I could run a marathon like that.  I mean I'm sure I could but there's not medal for it.  It's all about that bling.  ha!

To say it was freezing doesn't even compare to how cold it was out there. You would think with all the people there it would warm it up a bit...NOPE - COLD! The high that day was 31 but I think it was colder than that while we were out there especially if you add the WIND!  It was painful...not gonna lie!  Jason and the babies were miserable.  I was trying to keep up with Anna and Noah so I was occupied.

Jason, I meant to tell you thank you for driving us down there.  I was hoping it would have been a little more fun but without you Noah would not have made the race with his group.  You helped us a lot and I am so thankful you were there - even though I know it wasn't fun for you!!  That was a VERY CREATIVE WAY TO SHOW YOU LOVE ME!!  Thank you!

Noah completed the race in 10.37 and Anna did 12.50. I have a feeling had it been a tad bit warmer they might have done better but I think they rocked it!! So.Proud.of.THEM!!!

Before the race!

Ready to RUN!

Congrats guys!!   And congrats to the babies for hanging with us!!

We have a Gymnist

Yes my friends!  Anna has entered the world of Gymnastics.  I am officially apologizing right now for whoever she does a cartwheel on or if someone gets socked when she goes for her handstands.  She loves it.  And I do too.  I sorta wish I could take gymnastics, but then again I wish I could take dance and violin too.  There's just so much to be done.  Good thing there is eternity.  It's never to late to learn in eternity not to mention the curse of sin is gone from the body.  How wonderful!  Thank you Jesus for eternity with you!

We are so excited to be taking with friends from church.  Aren't they cute!!  RMLBC is gonna have a lot of tumblers soon.

A Jewel

I have found this little jewel of a book. It was more like a diamond in the rough.

We are pretty much getting rid of our library at the church because no one uses it anymore and lots of stuff is online now. So there were a ton of books upstairs for people to go through and take. While being silly looking through books someone handed me 400 Creative Ways to Say I LOVE YOU by Alice Chapin and said I needed to read it. I have not had this much fun with a book since DEEP THOUGHTS by Jack Handey. It takes me back to the days of sitting around reading Deep Thoughts with the Watson's and laughing till we cried. Keith and Amy, you may be receiving this book in the mail - except I want to be with y'all when you read it!

Alice is a pastor's wife in Newnan, GA. Her intentions are so good. She really wants marriages to be enriched. On page 13 she shares this truth, "love breeds love and establishes a cycle, often giving magnificent overflow back to the giver" - credit Jesus for that cycle. Her heart is in the right place. I kinda love her now!

But the book is outdated which is FUNNY! There are a lot of practical things you can do in this book. Some I wonder - do we really have to count that as a way?... like "Bathe Daily". I read excerpts from this book to Jason sunday night and we laughed so hard he literally had an asthma attack.

Here are a few of my favorites ways:

"Picture in your mind all the other wormen who would love to have him, and remind yourself that he chose you. It will make you realize how lucky you are." pg16

"Sometimes let him decide which movie or concert to go to. Go anyway, whether you like it or not." pg18

"Flirt with him at a party when you know you look beautiful. A wink over everybody else's head says, 'You are best of all.'" pg 19

"Carry a lock of his hair in your wallet." p20

"When he tells a joke, determine not to help him or give away the punchline." p20

"When his is comfortable in his easy chair and the TV programs change ask, 'What would you like to watch now?' and change the channel for him." p21

"Ask him to have lunch with you and look beautiful for him and his coworkers when you arrive. A hairdresser's appointment just before lunch will not hurt. Afterwards suggest a motel and ask if he can get the afternoon off. Even if he cannot, he will ove you for asking." pg 23

This book goes on on and and I'm pretty sure it would be illegal for me to quote the whole book to you. But it gets funnier and funnier. The things listed above are things to do...there are also things to say, bedroom life (HILARIOUS) - one quote from that is "find a motel with a WATERBED." REALLY?!?

Jason said the book is 400 ways to lie to your husband. But he still thinks it's funny.

Please. I'm advocating you buy the book!! You will love it. I promise!

The book is made up from lots of different people giving her these ideas. So, what is your creative way to love your husband?

Fender Bender

Had a fender bender in my parents car this morning. I was attempting to parallel park (at work) when my foot slipped off the break and onto the gas - HARD. No one was in the other 2 parked cars. I knew one guy the other never met before. Everyone was ok. Just my pride was wounded. Well, the Lord humbled me this morning.

Thankful for the people I work with who loved on me so well today. Who helped me laugh while I was crying. Especially Julie for going to lunch with me and getting my mind off my clumsiness. Thankful for my parents for understanding it was an accident. I definitely felt remorse. Thankful for Jason who loves me even when I have accidents - which seems like a lot!

Would have given anything to have had Ken McGinnis or Brittney or Jason Roberts be the police officer on the scene... but the other guy was good. THANKFUL he didn't blare his lights and sirens and call for reinforcement. I hate when more than one cop shows up. WHY?

Thankful the day is almost over. My eyes are tired for my over acting drama. I was crying and could NOT stop. I hate when that happens. I felt horrible, I knew it was an accident, I knew everything would work out, I knew all the truth surrounding the situation but my emotions couldn't grab hold of that. Having to swallow your pride is a very HARD thing to do. Thought the medicine was supposed to help with that...apparently not!!

Still need a Savior (Jesus). He's teaching me something today. Help me learn the lesson Lord.

The Ferrill's help to Bring Home Gia!

When I saw the schedule for Gia's fundraiser and that the Ferrill's had signed up to say I was excited was a bit of an understatement! I had so much fun with them today! I miss Laine (and her red headed side kick!) since we've moved away. I kept thinking about how 7 or 8 years ago when I had gotten my new Canon Rebel FILM camera Laine asked me to take pictures of the kids... 4 kids I had no fancy editing skills and she loved them. She's always been so sweet to me. Not even sure how all that came about back then. Anyway today they've grown by 6 ... and it was truly my pleasure to take some pictures for her.

To God be the Glory!

Yes, it's Feb. 3rd and I love that they wore sweaters, turtle necks, long sleeves, short sleeves, some wore socks and tennis shoes while others wore their trustee FLIP FLOPS! Gotta love this Alabama winter!
