Spring Break

Early Friday (before Spring Break) the first grade class went to the zoo!  Let me just say it was WET and COLD!  It was miserable...but you know the kids didn't think so - they had a BLAST!  I don't think Noah has been to the zoo since he was very little.  He kept asking, "Mom, have I been here before?"  I know we've taken him but it was all new to him.  We've got to go back and take Anna on a pretty day when the animals are active!

During Spring Break we went to the park - it just so happened to also be mine and Jason's anniversary!  We love Vetran's Park!  It has a great playground the kids love but it also has a HUGE walking track.  We brought the kids bikes that day and they rode around the whole track of the park - I'm pretty sure it was a mile!  Noah loved it, Anna got tired a few times but she finished strong!  Mary even had a ride on Anna's bike.  It's a beautiful walk...through woods, and a pond/lake...and opens back up to the park and field.  And an added plus to the day...the ice cream woman stopped by - and since Grandaddy was with us...the kids got ice cream!

The last "fun" thing we did was celebrate Noah's 7th Birthday at Chuck E Cheese!  It was so crowded and at first I thought we had made a mistake but everyone got in and had a good time!  The rest of the time was filled with cleaning, resting, playing gamecube games, and just hangin' out!  It was a fun Spring Break!  Now we are all very excited about summer (10 more weeks)...and guess who's coming this summer...ISAAC!! YAY!

Cake Contest

Briarwood's Missions Conference was last week and they have a "Cake Decorating Contest" every year - they separate adult and kids (to be fair I guess...and more people win that way). You have to decorate a cake in honor of one of the attending missionaries and money is given to the missionaries whose cake wins - 1st, 2nd, or 3rd prize.

Well, the day before the contest we were looking at the people who had signed up and only two kids had signed up! I thought, this is GREAT Noah and Anna could enter a cake and they would have to at least win 3rd place! So, I called Delilah (at the last minute) and she baked us a cake to decorate! We decided to do the China flag because we had eaten dinner the night before with some missionaries from it's a very easy flag.

Well, we had the BEST time with Delilah. I was concerned Delilah was going to do the whole thing and just hold Noah or Anna's hand while "they" were decorating. But she reassured me she was going to let them do it. I would scream..."NOAH, you are pulling up the cake" when he was icing it and "Please don't lick the spoons and icing, GET YOUR HANDS OUT OF THE BOWL!" There definitely should have been a sign on the cake...EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

See what I mean!!

Is that good Anna!! We caught you!!

Turned out that several more people joined the competetion and we didn't place...or we told them they placed 4th! They were up against 12 year olds! Here are the real winners!

1st Place

2nd Place

3rd Place

Noah has decided to collect chip bags! Why? He said because he can read the back of them! I think I've convinced him that when he collects 100 he HAS to throw them away. At first I thought I could recycle them, you know like cans, I did some research and you can't recycle them because they are greasy!! You can't recycle chip bags! So, we have 94 chip bags...what am I going to do about this collection! It's over the top and let's face it...IT'S TRASH! Any ideas on how to save the planet with chip bags?
So, this is just one of the "unique" traits of Noah!!

We'll Call Him Isaac

So what's the name, what's the name!

Isaac - means laughter! I have loved the name Isaac for years now. I love love love that it means laughter. I thought it would pertain to his personality not the circumstances too! I love how the Lord works! When I got pregnant with Mary there was really nothing funny about it other than the fact we were overjoyed to be having another baby after 4 years. BUT NOW...we've shared laughs at the fact that 5 months after Mary was born we are pregnant again!! A little different then Sarah but I think it's a similar SHOCK!!

Mincaye (min-KY-yee) will be his middle means Wasp! But that's not why we are naming him that! We are hoping that a beautiful story, where reckless savages brutally spear a group of missionaries and find salvation, forgiveness, God's love, redemption, family and the body of Christ, goes on to another generation.

The story we know began in 1956 when Nate Saint, Jim Elliott, Ed McCully, Peter Fleming, and Roger Youderian tried to reach a tribe of Indians in Ecuador with the gospel. They made contact but eventually they were speared by several Acua Indians...Nate Saint's final blow was made by Mincaye.

After the attack Rachel Saint (Nate's sister) and Elizabeth Elliot went back into the jungles to give the gospel to the people their family tried to reach. Their attempt was successful. Steve Saint went into the jungles at the age of 9 and grew up with the man who murdered his dad (his hero - as he calls him), Mincaye. From what I understand the story was mainly told about the death of these great men (in Life magazine). The work of the women that followed them (by Elizabeth Elliott).

But now the story gets more intimate with Steve's perspective! Which focuses not so much on the work of his father but his life lived with these Indians - who by the world's standards he should, yes, maybe forgive (but definitely not LOVE), and on top of that certainly not consider him a "father" and "grandfather" to his children. If you have not read the book the End of the Spear YOU NEED TO! The movie was great but the book lends so much more insight! I also had the priviledge of meeting Ginny Saint (Steve's wife) about 2 years ago. She has her own amazing story to tell - which she shares some in the book as well. They are an amazing family - who truly live out their faith - when their faith doesn't make much sense - or when the Lord calls them to follow him through VERY TOUGH situations. They are faithful. So, when I heard the story I was moved deeply - to love, forgive, trust the Lord when His "trail" doesn't seem fair, right, or fun! Live for ETERNITY and do the work of the Lord. That is a reminder for me!!

So we will call him...

Isaac Mincaye Dollar

and may the story be told again!

Sonogram Pictures and Update

These are my two favorite sonogram pictures! We could not get a profile picture because he loves his hands!! He had both of them all up at his face. Which he did in the 10 week sonogram picture too! So, I'm sure we have another thumb sucker...that's my assumption! It looks as though he does it like Anna too - BOTH HANDS! I love that little hand on the second picture! It looks like he is saving "HEY" or "HIGH FIVE NOAH...I'm your bubba!!" and for all those wondering where is the proof that he's a boy...come on...Have you no shame!! You will just have to trust's a BOY...very obvious even Jason saw very clearly! It was funny (I think I'm embarrassed about it myself) ha ha ha!

So, he is healthy! And growing right on track. Might I add that he is so sweet too!! I just fall in love every time I look at these x-ray like pictures! It's amazing you can love so much! I am continually amazed at that fact.

One prayer request...and it's not is a "problem." My placenta is partially covering my cervix. I think they said partially. I think the technician said it was covering my cervix but the Dr. showed us it was partially covering it. But, we were in a small room for over an hour with 2 kids READY TO I can't remember exactly! But it is covering more than it is not covering it. ANYWAY...I will have to have another sonogram at 28 weeks to see if the placenta has moved up. Dr. A seemed to be TOTALLY UNCONCERNED about it and has full confidence it will move! So...we are praying that it does move. If it does not...C-Section...YIKES!! I know many of you have had C-Sections and I've heard everything from they are the best to the worst. I don't prefer one and I know the Lord will get me through whatever He has already planned! But to be honest...I really, really, really don't want a C-Section. I've already resolved not to go there YET! Placenta's move as you grow so until they say...this is what has to be done - I will not worry! Plus...I want us both to be completely safe! And so far...I've been very content. So, all that to say...Just pray about it if you think about it!

So, it was a very fun and exciting day yesterday and now I have lots of things to think about and figure out what room he'll go in and start looking at baby boy clothes and such! FUN FUN!
