Our 1st Letter

A Common Story
A teenager graduates from high school and moves off to college where his or her Christian faith is challenged and often ridiculed.

The rate of college students who leave behind the Christian faith is startling! The Church must actively teach high school students that the Christian faith can be rationally defended – even at college. Since Christianity is ACTUALLY TRUE, it can answer every challenge that is brought against it. Christians do not need to run and hide when our beliefs are scoffed, but rather we must obey God’s command:

“But in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, ALWAYS BEING PREPARED TO MAKE A DEFENSE to anyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and respect” (I Peter 3:15).

The need level is extremely high for training in apologetics and the Christian worldview among the youth in the Birmingham area and beyond. I currently have the tremendous opportunity of teaching apologetics to the seniors at Shades Mountain Christian School (many of you are the parents of students or former students of mine). I have seen the hunger and desire teenagers have for this vital information and it is exciting to equip them to defend their faith against an increasingly hostile world.

But now the vision has expanded. In addition to teaching at Shades Mountain, I am the youth specialist at the Apologetics Resource Center. In this capacity, I am working to take apologetics training to teenagers through youth group meetings, retreats, camps, home school groups, and one-on-one tutoring.

In order for all of these things to happen, however, I need your help. My status is that of home missionary who is filling a needed area of specialized ministry (youth apologetics) among the people of God in Birmingham and beyond. This means I must raise support.

Will you be willing to support this needed ministry? Will you invest in the future of our young people by making a monthly donation? Your gift will enable me to labor in training this generation of teenagers to be able to defend the Christian faith for the glory of God.

In order to support my family (Page, Noah 5, and Anna 3), I must raise at least $2,600 a month beyond my salary as a teacher. I appreciate your one-time gift or your ongoing monthly gift in order to make this ministry possible. Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support. If you have any questions or suggestions, please call me at 205-853-0807 or cell 205-907-8322.

Sincerely,

Jason Dollar

Jason and Page I think this is awesome and much needed in our city! I hope Katie Lyn can be involved when she gets a little older; I want her to be well grounded on top of what Rob and I are able to teach her!

That smudge is where Page rubbed my face in the dirt prior to the photo shoot. Keith told me he shaved his all off! Oh, well, I can't keep up with trying to be like him.
